Key Responsibilities:

Tropicana Brands Group is looking for a highly qualified Utilities Reliability Engineer to support the Supply Chain team to ensure the company's goals and initiatives are met.

The Utilities Reliability Engineer contributes to the success of the Bradenton Plant by effectively identifying opportunities and implementing utility system upgrades to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility's utility systems. The facility's utilities systems include the plant power distribution system, a 48MW/120klb/hr Cogeneration plant, a 18,000 TR ammonia refrigeration system, a 3MM gal/day process wastewater treatment facility, a 25k SCFM of instrument quality compressed air system, 600+ HVAC assets, and various Fire & Safety and Environmental Operational systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuous improvement of the safe, reliable and efficient operability and maintainability of the facility's utility systems by working with the Utilities Operations, Maintenance and Electrical Teams to identify and implement system upgrades and improvements to maintenance and operational practices
  • Maintain and sustain utility system documentation to appropriate design standards to meet both troubleshooting needs and regulatory requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, one line drawings, panel layouts, piping and instrumentation diagrams, block diagrams, bill of materials, equipment specifications and design documentation, functional descriptions, arc flash surveys and documentation
  • Interface with local utilities for water, power and natural gas connections, services and metering
  • Active leadership and participation in facility's Progressive Maintenance (PM) pillar and promoting a culture of design for maintainability, planning and scheduling vs reactivity
  • Monitor and utilize utility KPI's to set priorities and drive decision making
  • Leading and participating in root cause analysis of incidents, near misses and breakdowns and implementing corrective countermeasures as they relate to maintenance team and performance
  • Scope and implement small capital projects for mechanical and electrical utility system upgrades identified in continuous improvement efforts
  • Coordinate and support corporate engineering large capital projects to improve system safety, reliability and efficiency through capital improvements
  • Ensure the identification and cataloging of spare parts, including critical spares to be in added to the stock room, for newly installed utilities equipment
  • Ensure the identification and cataloging of spare parts to be removed from the stock room due to obsolescence or for demolished utilities equipment
  • Utilize visual factory concepts to maximize asset utilization and plant performance
  • Participate in in site Process Safety Management team as it relates to ammonia refrigeration design and documentation
  • Provide the materials, training, coaching and troubleshooting support for front line employees and coordinate with external technical support when necessary to meet business needs
  • Work with Site Services Manager, Utilities teams, plant operations and front line team members to prioritize and manage tasks
  • Regular and predictable attendance at the work site and a regular presence on the plant floor
  • Ensure all safety rules, procedure, policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed
  • This role requires lifting up to 40 lbs. occasionally
  • This role requires occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain
  • This role requires occasional off-shift and weekend work
  • This role may require some travel (less than 5%)

Requirements:

  • Engineering Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience required
  • A minimum of 3 years experience with Power Plant, Ammonia Refrigeration and/or Waste Water systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience in operating and maintain medium voltage power distribution systems preferred
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code and experience managing arc flash programs preferred
  • Experience in managing capital projects and delivering on time and on budget results preferred
  • Experience in working with design consultants and contractors preferred
  • Experience with Process Safety Management preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite/Office applications
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others
  • Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
