Sunbelt Asphalt Surfaces, Inc. is seeking an experienced Traffic Control Crew member to join our Operations Team.
Job Description:
The ideal candidate will hold a current Traffic Control/Flagger Certification and assist Paving and Base Operations by managing traffic within work zones.
Experience/Skills Required:
- Traffic Control/Flagger Certification from an accredited Institution.
- Working knowledge of roadway construction work zones.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Exercise judgement to comply with instructions or prescribed routines, methods or practices involved in the making of minor decisions within the limitations of standard methods and procedures.
- Maintain inventory and integrity of all signage, barriers, cones, and any/all other Traffic Control Equipment.
Physical Activity/Demand: Position requires the ability to climb, to grasp, to push and pull, to bend at the waist, to walk and stand for long periods of time and to lift up to 50 pounds. Position requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communications.
Mental/Visual Demand: Continuous mental and visual attention required to avoid hazards and mistakes.
Working Conditions: Disagreeable working conditions with continuous exposure to dust, dirt, seasonal temperature variances, wet cement, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable.
Hazards: Work sometimes performed with live traffic; injuries, should they occur, could result in partial incapacitation due to cuts, sprains, or breaks; severe bodily injury or death.
Responsibilities: - The ability to perform various laborious tasks requiring the use of hand, power or mechanical tools, I.E.; shovel, rake, pick hammer, tamp, saw, and other tools of the trade.
- The ability to perform various laborious tasks requiring the handling of various construction materials, I.E.; rip, rap, fencing, pipe, concrete, asphalt, stone, traffic control devices, etc.
- Follow all safety rules and keep work area and tools in clean and orderly condition.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
