Caterpillar is seeking a Technical Planning Manager in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will provide the technical expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, complex manufacturing operations and sophisticated machines. You will be a subject matter expert for facility employees relative to the technical phase of the planning function.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Managing a Continuous Improvement team responsible for improving factory safety, quality and velocity.
  • Supporting the team in implementing robust solutions to improve overall efficiency, yield, and uptime of the equipment.
  • Complying with safety, health, and environmental guidelines and participating in continuous improvement of the procedures related to tooling procurement.
  • Completes special work assignments requiring collaboration and integration between business functions.
  • Works with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.
  • Provides the application, procurement, processing, installation and capability of new capital equipment.
  • Designs, develops and implements the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation and systems application.
  • Provides manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification.
  • Coordinates the purchase and application of assembly tools, controls and related equipment.
A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:
  • Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Design Thinking : Knowledge of concepts, principles, and processes of design thinking; ability to utilize the knowledge in designing new products and services and even improving organizational operation.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems : Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
Top Candidates for this position may also have:
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts - Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience - Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong teamwork background.
  • Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.
  • AutoCAD and 3D modeling experience.
  • Working knowledge of Standard Assembly tools and their applications.
  • Lean Manufacturing Experience.
  • Software, Programming, & System Design Knowledge.
  • Prior work experience in a high velocity assembly facility.
  • Strong Mechanical, Analytical & Problem Solving Skills.
  • Project Management Experience.
  • Strong Blueprint Reading Skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

The primary location for this position is Sanford, NC.
