Department: Honors Program Responsibilities

The Florida State University Honors Program seeks two dynamic educators to join our Core Faculty with an anticipated start date of the Spring 2025 semester. The successful candidates for these positions will have the opportunity to design and teach Honors Signature Courses which are small, interactive courses which introduce students to topics that push thematic and disciplinary boundaries. These courses, available exclusively to students in the University Honors Program, and the dedicated faculty who teach them, are critical to the continuing growth and success of the program. Successful candidates will spend the Spring 2025 semester on course release, designing Signature Courses to be taught in subsequent semesters. The teaching load is 4-4-2 over a 12-month contract and all courses in the University Honors Program are capped at 24 students. Semesters with a four-course load typically consist of teaching two sections each of two unique courses. Summer semesters may include the opportunity to teach abroad. Contracts are renewable and Specialized Teaching Faculty I are eligible for promotion to Specialized Teaching Faculty II after five years of meritorious performance which includes an increased contract length and promotion raise. Each Honors Core Faculty member receives a yearly $2500 professional development stipend, a $1000 curriculum development stipend, and has the opportunity to apply for Professional Development Leave for every three years of service.

Competitive candidates are passionate teachers who have experience designing courses for motivated and engaged learners. The University Honors Program serves students from all majors and backgrounds and ideal candidates will be able to design and teach courses with interdisciplinary appeal. The University Honors Program also provides support for co-curricular programming and encourages faculty and students to position themselves as intellectual innovators within a thriving university community. We welcome applications from all fields and specializations which complement existing program strengths. Vitae of current Honors Core Faculty can be found at https://honors.fsu.edu/about/core-faculty.
