Job Description:

The Tax Clerk will be responsible for providing effective and timely sales and property tax payments, and to facilitate problem resolution with multiple taxing jurisdictions.

Please note that this description is not all-encompassing as other ad hoc tasks are expected of the position.

Essential Functions

  • Reconcile G/L account balances and prepare sales tax returns for various states and local jurisdictions within prescribed deadlines.
  • Prepare property tax payments including client billing and processing for various states within prescribed deadlines.
  • Investigate problems arising from property tax bills by written or oral communication to city or county offices.
  • Prepare property tax renditions within prescribed deadlines.
  • File sales and property tax documents upon completion.
  • Other duties assigned to ensure overall departmental efficiency.

Other Duties
  • File for proration of property tax for terminated units in states where applicable.
  • Scan property tax documents as needed.
  • Assist with occasional tax related special projects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Specifications
  • Leadership Responsibility: This position has no leadership responsibilities.
  • Work Environment: This position is in Alpharetta, GA and operates in a professional office environment.
  • Position Type/Standard Schedule: This is a Full-time position that will work onsite Monday-Friday for 12 weeks; then hybrid
  • Travel: No travel is expected for this position.

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma required, Some college helpful.
  • 2 years' office experience in a clerical position, tax exposure helpful.
  • Ability to operate a PC in a Windows environment.
  • AS400 and JD Edwards experience helpful.
