Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Serves as 1 of OIE's investigators primarily for student cases alleging sexual misconduct, domestic violence, stalking, and harassment.
  • Responsible for managing case files, database information, interviews, correspondence, and documentation associated with the university's Title IX compliance;
  • Interfaces directly with students throughout the duration of the case, directing them to university resources and support as appropriate. Places an emphasis on confidentiality of student concerns, university policy compliance, and a culture of care within all direct student interactions;
  • Runs reports on case progress, types of allegations, and sanction/action plan completions;
  • Assists OIE in coordinating the university's compliance with EEO related laws by handling other related duties and initiatives as assigned, depending on staffing and caseload.
General Responsibilities
  • Prepares formal investigatory reports and/or analyses pursuant to university and campus procedures and internal protocols.
  • Develops and/or presents various communication and/or training programs on behalf of the office to educate in areas of equity, opportunity, and accessibility and to support the university's compliance with training and education requirements found in a variety of laws and regulations pertaining to equal opportunity and discrimination and harassment.
  • Collaborates, advises, and consults with other university departments and offices on equity, opportunity, and accessibility as well as matters pertaining discrimination and harassment.
  • May serve as an experienced analyst, investigator, and consultant in various areas of equity, opportunity, and accessibility through research, assessments, analyses, discussions, and investigations.
  • Oversees and monitors university activities to ensure legal compliance and best practices in areas such as recruitment/hiring; pay equity; ADA accommodations; Title IX, etc.
  • Represents the office on specific university committees, in meetings, and in outreach opportunities as needed by the office.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree
Preferred
  • Juris doctor (J.D) or other advanced degree or certification in legal, EEO compliance, human resources, student affairs or related areas
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years of experience in compliance, investigatory, or related field
Preferred
  • EEO, Title IX, Title VII and/or other anti-discrimination comprehension and training, including training in conducting investigations
  • Experience working in an educational setting

  • Ability to accomplish tasks independently and efficiently, with ability to establish priorities
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and students from diverse populations (e.g. nationality, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ability, class, and other social identities)
  • Knowledge of complexities surrounding sexual assault and sexual harassment cases in a college setting

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
