General Summary
Under frequent supervision, the student extern will be trained and work in one or more entry level positions within the hospital including but not limited to Nutrition Services, Transport, Radiology Transport and Environmental Services and Patient Admissions.

Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the Extern Program Manager and the Manager or Director of the area to which they are assigned.

Qualifications
The student extern must be a High School Senior or a Junior in their second semester and must be able to read and write. Must be able to follow specific instructions, methods and procedures with limited guidance from supervision. Acute hearing required to assimilate oral communication from supervisor, patients, physicians, family members, or other staff members. Requires ability to hear transport requests transmitted through communication devices. Good verbal communication skills necessary. Some positions require current CPR certification which will be provided as part of the onboarding process if necessary.
