We're seeking a Senior Underwriter to support a variety of industries, including construction, forest products, manufacturing, and oil & gas. This hybrid/remote role allows you to bring your commercial underwriting expertise to a collaborative team and work directly with a network of agencies across California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Idaho.
Position Overview
In this role, you'll apply your expertise to evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business in key industries such as construction, forest products, and oil & gas. You'll manage a portfolio of agencies, making strategic decisions on risk, pricing, and agency growth while ensuring our high standards for underwriting and service are upheld.
Key Responsibilities
Assess, quote, and negotiate commercial insurance applications for new and renewal business, leveraging an in-depth understanding of statutory and industry standards.
Prospect and develop agency relationships to maximize profitability, manage appointments, and optimize growth opportunities.
Conduct presentations, maintain key business relationships, and drive new business opportunities within the territory.
Mentor less experienced underwriters and share insights to support ongoing team development and training.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
5-7 years in commercial underwriting, with experience in areas such as construction, forest products, manufacturing, or oil & gas.
Strong analytical, territory management, and relationship-building skills with proven experience in external sales.
Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the United States.
Compensation
This role offers a competitive salary of $90k-140k, benefits package, and more.
