GHD has an opportunity in Northern California for a Senior Transportation Planner. We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic senior planner to help drive our California Transportation Group. This position will be located in Sacramento, CA.

Working with our Transportation Group, this position offers a good variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Transportation planning focused on complete streets, corridor studies, active transportation and safe routes to school
• Oversight and management of complex planning projects which include investigation, analyses, and preparation of public-facing documents and other client deliverables
• Application of data analysis, site assessment, design concepts and community engagement best practices in transportation planning

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to lead a team of planners with a track record of increased responsibility in the planning and preliminary concept development for multimodal and community-focused transportation projects. Our planners work hand in hand with our engineers, landscape architects, and digital analysts to develop plans that are implementable and meet our clients' needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the transportation planning and design field, and a belief that walking and bicycling are integral to our transportation system.

The Senior Transportation Planner at GHD is an important component of the Mobility and Places Business Group. This position will complement our existing team members in Northern California and enhance our established transportation planning practice in the region. The successful candidate will work to increase GHD's contribution to the field by winning and delivering quality projects, recruiting and training staff, and being a leader in relevant professional organizations.

The ideal candidate would possess the following experience:

• Experience with complete streets, active transportation projects, and corridor studies
• Track record of satisfied clients and adopted plans and studies
• Experience developing and leading community engagement activities
• Experience with developing (or reviewing) funding proposals for transportation projects preferred
• Experience with unique project approaches to meet client needs
• Experience leading staff in successful delivery of planning projects
• Experience leading and/or supporting business development efforts to secure planning work and support to clients; actively leverages connections with clients and industry professionals
• Experience leading and/or participating in project interviews
• Experience with mentoring junior staff to expand their understanding of the technical and business aspects of transportation planning
• Strong written and verbal skills for communicating technical topics for client and public understanding
• Skilled in the realms of marketing and the expansion of the transportation planning practice
• Eager to obtain and manage projects, with the provision of direction and/or assistance
• Capable of forging and sustaining professional connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• An eagerness to bring high quality transportation planning to all California clients
• An understanding of how transportation planning and design is evolving

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Community, City, or Regional Planning or equivalent related discipline
• Minimum 10 years transportation planning experience

Salary Range: $112,000- 168,000 based on location and experience
