We are hiring for a Senior Survey CAD Technician to join our Land Surveying team and contribute to processing / production efforts on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Leesburg, VA .

We are seeking a candidate has been serious about building their Land Surveying career and is looking to take their next step; the ideal candidate is an SIT that has already positioned themself to obtain their Surveying License, and will utilize this opportunity to grow into leadership roles within this department in the future!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare topographic and boundary survey bases and plats for Civil Design team needs (in Civil 3D format).
  • Perform construction stakeout computations in Civil 3D and Carlson Land Surveying software.
  • Prepare and check construction stakeout cutsheets and exhibits for contractors.
  • Prepare ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey Plats, including Title & Zoning Reports for inclusion in said surveys.
  • Prepare Easement & Record Plats for numerous states, counties and jurisdictions; Plats will be created in Civil 3D format with the ability to review / address review comments with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare As-Built Surveys in Civil 3D Format along with preparation of a PipeNetworks file for submission to clients and numerous jurisdictions.
  • Perform extensive property & easement research for subject properties (via online resources through numerous county & state sites), as needed.
  • Contribute to Aerial Surveying operations (preferably as a licensed Drone Pilot).
  • Operate a High-Definition Laser Scanner (HDLS) and download data for post-processing.
  • Work directly with Contractors & Clients on construction project needs and requests.
  • Read Structural & Architectural Plans and prepare computations for detailed building layout (including column lines and interior control points).
  • Maintain knowledge of the Land Surveying profession (especially with the ambition of becoming a Licensed Land Surveyor ).
  • Work extra hours and weekends, as needed (when requested or required by project/client needs).
  • Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.


Basic Requirements:
  • High School Diploma.
  • 5+ years of professional experience working in Land Surveying (preferably while doing work in the Field and Office simultaneously).
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with CADD-oriented responsibilities (preferably AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Carlson Survey Software tools; this person must be able to pass an AutoCAD test during an interview).


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal training in Land Surveying; completion of a degree related to Surveying Technology is a plus!
  • Relevant credentials (e.g.: NSPS CST, LS, etc.); SIT and/or FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot's License is preferred!
  • Proven expertise working in Land Surveying, preferably with a mix of field and office-based tasks; expertise with modern surveying methods & best practices is preferred.
  • Experience operating a Leica Data Collector and processing field data using the most up to date Infinity and Captivate software for inclusion into Civil 3D and AutoCAD bases.
  • Experience with survey-specific & point cloud processing software tools; Cyclone Core / 3DR / Register 360, CloudWorx and Pix4D (for High-Definition Laser Scanning and Drone Flights).
  • Proficient using Bentley MicroStation products (OpenRoads and InRoads) is a plus (for VDOT projects).
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
