Working independently, under general supervision from Dr. Bueno and Senior Research Manager executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. May identify new techniques. Develops modification of existing techniques, as appropriate. In collaboration with other members of the research team, gives input to the development of design protocols.
Contributes to writing and editing grants/manuscripts as needed and the preparation of IRBs including writing and editing protocol submissions. Help colleagues understand and translate detailed complex scientific concepts, share important research findings, and prepare written interpretations of data and other information for presentation in lab meetings. Supports database input and reports.
The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process, which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands on learning experience through the first 90 days.
This is a 32 hours/week position.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in biological/physical science
- Requires 3-5 years of directly related progressively more responsible experience.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQURIED:
• High degree of computer literacy.
• Sound analytical and organizational skills.
• Requires good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to logically and effectively structure tasks and set priorities.
• Ability to identify potential problems and troubleshoot solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data statistically and to logically present it.
• Must have a broad knowledge of scientific principles, biological structures, and laboratory techniques.
• Must have sound interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise others.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for supervising staff including hiring, firing, evaluating and disciplining. Will orient and
train new staff members.
Must be well-organized and detail-oriented with good computer skills. Time-management, multitasking and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, developing organization are essential.
