About the Role

This role is responsible for development of novelty surface techniques and from initial concept to market. This role will manage a team who works cross-functionally to ensure on-time development and delivery. This role will work closely with leaders in Design, Merch, Color, Production, Technical Design, R&D as well as the sourcing office to ensure there is effective operational process flow to enable surface development is successful. This role's will oversee and manage novelty in addition to identifying and addressing key manufacturing issues in order to deliver product that is beautiful, technical and sustainable.

What You'll Do

  • Identifies, creates, maintains, process and tools that enable surface development. Constantly researching and identifying for opportunities to create efficiency and innovation.
  • Collaborates and engages with cross functional partners, teams, and vendors to ensure all deadlines and deliverables are consistently met regarding the product to market pipeline. Proactively communicates when issues are identified and presents solutions to resolve.
  • Educates + collaborates with the Surface Team & CFP's to provide technical hindsight on feasibility and production execution challenges.
  • Works closely to build out unique pipeline's and tools to support multi-year milestones and touchpoints to help support and create visibility for cross functional partners on our process and workflow.
  • Owns the artwork development, from file send-out, to production approval, in a range of unique execution.
  • Leads, develops, and inspires team to be customer-focused, innovative, solution oriented and team-oriented in their work.
  • Collaborates and owns correspondence with both mills/vendors to develop long lead and innovative concepts to seasonal timeline with proper vetting.
  • A deep knowledge of technical processes, best practices in commercialization all enable a successful product to market pipeline. This role will manage the entire Product to market pipeline for Print and Surface development.
  • In collaboration with the Surface Team, ensures that the preparation of artwork packages is detailed and print ready.
  • Travel seasonally to vendor base for business development opportunities, vendor relationships and explore new machinery.
  • Understand and anticipate customer needs through market research, customer feedback and creating workstreams around problems to solve.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of surface developers

Who You Are

  • 7+ years working with textiles and/or developing prints on both synthetics as well as cellulosic blends.
  • Background in Product Development, Design and/or fabric.
  • You have vast knowledge of surface novelty + garment novelty techniques such as screen printing and garment dye.
  • You are a strategic thinker that has proven track record of working under tight timelines, collaborating with cross functional partners and can lead a team of highly effective developers.
  • You are experienced at working on multiple seasonal deliverables at once and can guide the team on prioritizing, problem solving and removing roadblocks.
  • Expert knowledge of various print methods, production practices and technical testing results for print and surface techniques.
  • Strategic knowledge manufacturing processes, vendor capabilities and technical feasibility
  • Specialized knowledge of fabric construction + fibers.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator + PLM.
  • Proven ability to represent both the aesthetic vision for the brand, employ technical knowledge to solving design challenges and the ability to guide and lead a team to support.
  • Ability to work in fast paced evolving company.
  • Being flexible, assertive and detail oriented is critical to being successful in this role.

Salary Range: $136,400 - $180,800 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
