Senior Manager, Corporate Responsibility

Job Description:

The Senior Manager of Corporate Responsibility is a new role driven by HITT's national growth and a commitment to putting the community and people at the front of our business every day. This role will focus on two key pillars of HITT's Corporate Responsibility Program: community contribution and workforce wellbeing. The Senior Manager will be responsible for three functions critical to the firm's success: philanthropy, DE+I, and team member engagement.

The Senior Manager will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to execute philanthropic initiatives to enhance our company's social impact. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to positively impact local communities in the dozens of locations where HITT does business through charitable events, volunteerism, philanthropic giving, and engagement activities. The Senior Manager manage the Team Member Engagement team and will also oversee the execution of HITT's well established DE+I plan.

The ideal candidate will have experiences that may include philanthropy, events management, DE+I, employee experience, and public relations, or a combination there of. They will have experience planning and executing a wide range of community engagement, philanthropic, and charitable events activities. Their skills include strategic planning, communication, event design, budget management, and fundraising. They will be a natural self-starter, well-connected in the Washington, DC community, and passionate about corporate responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive community impact strategy (at Headquarters and in 13 major markets) aligned with HITT's core values and business objectives with key focus areas, initiatives, and measurable goals
  • Manage and coordinate national philanthropic efforts for the firm, including community investment programs and corporate giving initiatives
    • Organize and execute national volunteerism opportunities for our team members and partners to participate in
    • Organize the giving strategy for HITT's own 501(c)3, The HITT Contracting Foundation, in collaboration with the Foundation Board
    • Manages the annual budget of The HITT Contracting Foundation and HITT's Corporate Donations, determining permissible payment options dependent on federal giving regulations
    • Oversee HITT scholarships endeavors, the selection process, and potential grant funding, with the overall goal to increase career opportunities in the industry or at HITT and to enhance construction-related skills
  • Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms to track the effectiveness and impact of community initiatives
    • Monitor and analyze data to identify trends, successes, and areas for improvement
    • Prepare regular reports and communicate the results to internal stakeholders, senior management, and external partners
    • Owns the creation of HITT's annual Corporate Responsibility Summary
    • Owns and project manages the annual submission to assessment platforms such as EcoVadis., making recommendations to enhance our collateral and programs to increase our social
    • Oversees the management of HITT's national top workplaces submissions and awards
  • Lead the strategy of team member engagement and collaborate with internal teams to promote employee satisfaction through appreciation and recognition by developing and implanting programs that encourage engagement
    • Oversee programming related to sympathy and work milestones such as bereavement care packages, retirement celebrations, tenure awards and recognition, etc.
    • Responsible for the planning and executive of appreciation weeks for Corporate Resources and Site Operations and signature events like March Madness and Chili Cook-Off, quarterly communications meeting watch parties, etc.
    • Executes events and major programming for the HITT Futures Program, namely during the summer internship experience
  • Apply and promote HITT's DE+I principles and commitment to ensuring diversity and equity by developing ongoing goals and tactics for the organization to foster inclusion and ensure a sense of belonging
    • Support HITT's employee resource groups (EGCs) and their missions, elevate mentorship programs for the diverse
    • Identify opportunities to increase representation by attracting and retaining minority team members
    • Manage the annual Diverse Leaders Program, facilitating cohort engagement, the training curriculum, individual development needs, and networking opportunities
    • Responsible for the annual programming of Diversity Month in April and, in collaboration with HITT's Communications team, annual celebrations of diverse populations such as Black History Month, Women in Construction Week, Hispanic Heritage Month, etc.
    • Develop programs and initiatives that provide skills development and training opportunities to underprivileged community members
    • Partner with HITT's internal Legal & Compliance team to assess our supplier diversity strategy and develop future goals
  • Collaborate with HITT's internal sustainable construction team to create and enhance programming and education related to environmental, social and economic sustainability
  • Owns the strategic and creative programming related to HITT's Wellness Program, providing opportunities for team members and/or their families to improve their physical and/or mental health, fitness and nutrition, financial education, and overall wellbeing
  • Assess and optimize the utilization of our HITT's new headquarters' physical space to support community engagement and social impact
  • Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines related to community engagement and corporate social responsibility. Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical obligations, including reporting requirements and transparency standards
  • Remain abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in community impact and corporate social responsibility
    • Actively participate in industry associations, conferences, and working groups to share knowledge, learn from others, and contribute to advancing community impact practices within the commercial construction sector
    • As a brand ambassador, exemplify our core values and represent HITT in the community. Collaborate with team members to elevate areas such as sustainability, research and development, and governance

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, social sciences, community development, or urban planning
  • 7-10 years of experience in marketing, community engagement, corporate social responsibility, ESG, and/or related roles
  • Strong understanding of community dynamics, social issues, business, philanthropy; exposure to commercial development, CRE, or AEC is a plus
  • Experience programming physical spaces to achieve community engagement, social impact, and brand awareness. Previous experience in developing and implementing headquarters programming initiatives or community space utilization projects is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement community impact strategies and programs, from ideation, to development, implementation, and reporting.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate initiatives within established timelines and budgets
  • Experience managing philanthropic budgets in excess of $1M; experience managing corporate 501(c)3 arms is a plus
  • Experience working with internal teams to plan and execute experiences, events, and engagement activities, including creative, communications, marketing, HR, and business development
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to drive decision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with urban planning concepts and sustainable design principles is a plus
  • Knowledge of relevant programming tools and platforms to streamline program management and evaluation processes
  • Passion for creating inclusive and vibrant communities, with a focus on leveraging the headquarters as a hub for positive social impact
  • Comfort with executive leadership and Boards
