What You Will Contribute:


The Senior Engineer, Electrical will support Badger Meter's continued growth and alignment amongst product families. This position encompasses hardware-specific aspects of electrical and electronic product development and product performance testing. The Senior Engineer assists projects involving new product development and maintain existing products in the production environment while gaining product knowledge. This individual contributor role offers autonomy, creativity, and the opportunity to work side by side with the Engineering leaders. The incumbent must be willing and able to learn, work effectively in a multi-discipline team, and demonstrate effective problem-solving initiative and motivation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Act as project technical lead, complete the design of hardware PCB/component circuit portion of a project, and ongoing support of component issues.
  • Complete product/prototype design verification tests to ensure compliance with applicable standards (UL/CSA, CE/EMC, FM, etc.) and product specifications.
  • Finalize the defined production implementations, including test methodology and specification/creation of production validation fixtures and procedures.
  • Finalize release documentation for final hardware portions of the product.
  • Complete product work instructions/process documents and initiate and implement engineering change requests.
  • Provide advanced product hardware support for sustaining engineering activities to other departments.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary project teams, define project schedules, budgets, and risks. Act as technical project lead.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ or more years of related experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of end-to-end product-based electronics development with a specific focus on PCB hardware design and integration into both stand-alone circuits and embedded systems.
  • Thorough design knowledge and some experience in both analog and digital circuit design. Some basic sensing technology with its interfacing (magnetic, optics, etc.) is helpful.
  • Solid understanding of working with embedded 8-bit/16-bit/ARM/etc. microcontrollers or microprocessors.
  • Thorough knowledge of Altium schematic capture and PCB layout software.
  • Extensive experience working with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and environmental chambers for troubleshooting PCBs and electronic products. (Preferred)
  • Thorough experience debugging and prototyping embedded systems (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one major product technology area or skill discipline. (Preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of Badger Meter Engineering tools and processes. (Preferred)
  • Experience working with other company departments often on technical support of products. (Preferred)
