What You Will Contribute:


The Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting Supply Chain, Finance, and Operational Plant Management with inventory, cost, and variance analysis for Badger Meter's North American facilities.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct the annual standard cost roll process and review to develop reasonable standard costs. Investigate cost issues and analyze the year-over-year cost revaluation and corresponding margin changes.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records through inventory account reconciliations, inventory reserve calculations, and proper inventory valuation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Assist in reviewing and recording proper manufacturing variances related to purchase price variance and absorption. Perform root cause analyses and provide explanations to management, as required.
  • Assist with inventory accuracy and audits by preparing any necessary reports to assist with counts, review processes within software to ensure adequate controls for entry, and review variances.
  • Prepare reporting packages and lead management meetings on inventory, obsolescence, and variances. Develop ad-hoc reports and analysis and assist in projects for Supply Chain, Finance, and Operational Plant Management.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of department policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of related experience in cost accounting desired.

Qualifications:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Outlook) required
  • Advanced knowledge of BPCS/AS400 or comparable ERP system required
  • Intermediate knowledge of MicroStrategy preferred
