General Summary:

The Senior Clinical Coordinator I is a professional leader who serves in a blended role of leadership and bedside nurse. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient care. The Clinical Coordinator will work together with the Nurse Manager to facilitate, mentor and evaluate others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills. In addition, the Clinical Coordinator will continuously assess unit needs to ensure adequate resources for current and upcoming shifts by collaborating with the Nurse Manager, other departments clinical and nonclinical, to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients. The Clinical Coordinator will be prepared to assume the duties of the Nurse Manager in her/his absence. The Clinical Coordinator will hold team members accountable by ensuring adherence to appropriate federal, state and local regulations, Professional Standards, hospital policies, procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirements

Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Maryland. BS from college of nursing (or MSN) is required. Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland.

Qualifications

  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required upon hire
  • Must meet all unit specific certification requirements: (PALS, ACLS, NRP)
  • BS from a College of Nursing
  • Professional Certification is preferred
  • Must maintain .60 FTE or greater
  • No discipline greater than a verbal counseling within the past year
  • Meets satisfactory level or higher on last two performance appraisals (if applicable)
  • Ability to learn and use computer systems in order to manage patient information
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

    Professional Practice
  • Serves as clinical resource to others
  • Proficient in the care of unit specific patient population and functions effectively in roles specific to unit
  • 3. At the unit level, advances clinical practice and consistently integrates evidence into practice
  • 4. Initiaste referrals and utilizes available resources within and outside the institution
  • Coordinates the interdisciplinary plan of care for the patient and family
  • Integrates holistic care in all patient encounters
  • Actively demonstrates, supports and mentors others in UM BWMC model of care
  • Assess unit based patient education processes/materials

  • Practice Focus Areas:
    • Leads team to implement evidenced based practice standards
    • Leads unit based efforts for developing, implementing, and evaluating relationship based care
    • Develop and share presentation of a patient care case study
    • Develop and implement unit based project in collaboration with unit leadership (develop guidelines, standards & policies)
    • Publication of a clinical practice article
    • Oversees unit based patient education process
