Position Overview

Responsible for the sales and marketing of all products and services related to aggregate materials by performing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Sales / Marketing:
    • Responsible for all sales and marketing activities related to the development of existing customers and identification and capture of new customers (Commercial, Residential, Industrial, and Infrastructure)
    • Manage the profitability and volume of entire territory, and all customers contained within the territory
    • Identify new customer and project opportunities within a defined market territory
    • Timely follow up on all sales/quotes and collection procedures
    • Strategic pricing of products based on market dynamics and associated cost factors
    • Keeping fully abreast of the current market conditions, customers and competitor activities
    • Developing and strengthening our relationships with all customers
    • Develop and execute Key Account Plans
    • Conduct data analysis to identify new customer, market and product opportunities
    • Provide a high level of customer service
    • Learn and utilize all sales tools and applications as defined by the sales process (Salesforce, Material Quote)
    • Accurate and timely preparation of various paperwork, including estimate sheets, contracts, credit approval, billing reports, etc.
    • Attend and Participate in Industry events and associations to develop networks and understand current trends.
    • Ability to review plans and determine appropriate quantities and solutions necessary for the job
    • Conduct customer surveys and periodic visits to job sites
    • Special sales and marketing projects as defined by the business
  • Operations:
    • Develop and submit bids for projects requiring aggregates
    • Provide demand forecast to be used in accurate and timely material orders to aggregate depots
    • Work closely with Quality Control in monitoring specifications of products
    • Assist with the collection of revenues from aggregate customers in arrears
    • Coordination with other parts of the business to maximize the use of aggregates
    • Interact with Sales Support Team to achieve business goals while meeting the needs of the customers
    • Daily coordination with area dispatcher and/or broker to insure maximum utilization of trucks, equipment and people on an area scale
    • Assist with other subsidiary operations as needed
  • Adhere to any and all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agency.

Other Requirements:

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to Shamblin policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shamblin employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
  • Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college preferred; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements

The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet
