Position Summary:

Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs. The Pathways coordinator will serve as the placement coordinator for SOM students enrolled in programs focused on rural primary care workforce development and also provide coordination to the MED program. The position will serve as the coordinator for the Pathways office in relationship to placement, scheduling, and as the primary School of Medicine contact for students interested and enrolled in rurally focused medical school programs. This position will work closely with the Faculty Director for Rural Education, the OMSE curricular phase teams, and clinical partners across the state. This position will be responsible for the recruitment efforts tied with this track and will work closely with the FIRST Program Coordinator in their recruitment efforts and share responsibility for the application and interview process for entry into the rural track. The individual in this role will serve as the primary point of contact for students interested in the non-accelerated portion of this track. This position will also perform a full range of student services-oriented work related to the MED program. These responsibilities ensure that the curriculum is operationalized and all curricular needs (e.g., communicating with students, as well as faculty at UNC and various AHEC sites; arranging student scheduling; coordinating formal assessments; organizing course materials; and managing the LMS, etc.) are met. Additionally, this position will work with other team members across all three phases of the curriculum to support developing needs of each phase in their transition to TEC 2.0.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Ability to plan and organize work by sequencing and prioritizing tasks, coordinating with other work groups, and meeting major deadlines. Ability to respond to an environment with changing priorities and constant demands by adjusting workload appropriately. Ability to anticipate and prepare for the needs of faculty or potential conflicts, particularly as it relates to course support. Ability to maintain positive professional relationships with individuals at various levels at the School of Medicine, including faculty, department chairs, staff, students, as well as other teammates at regional campuses and sites. Ability to learn and use a wide range of software and hardware for operational or educational purposes, including applications designed to disseminate course and committee information, conduct course evaluations, develop and administer assessments, and maintain webpages for the School of Medicine MD Program. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with particular skill in tailoring messaging appropriately to students and faculty

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Spoken and/or written Spanish skills are preferred

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
