This position has responsibility for the health and/or safety of others. Responsibilities include training in the proper and safe use of equipment.
IMPACT ON PROGRAMS - SERVICES - OPERATIONS:
Errors in judgments made in overseeing operations could disrupt programs and services, causing inconvenience to students, faculty, staff and guests of MSU. Errors in maintaining records would cause problems to the Department in both quantity and quality of services offered.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Negligible disagreeable working conditions. The job requires moderate physical effort and involves eye/hand coordination, sitting or standing for long periods or viewing a CRT screen 26 - 75% of the time. Due to the nature of work this is not a remote friendly position.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum RequirementsKnowledge equivalent to that which would be acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school with coursework in a field related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing tasks related to the area of employment, and may require one to three years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired QualificationsExperience working directly with people from a diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA+, and gender backgrounds. Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments and multiple social identities.
