Department Summary

The BioDiscovery Institute aims to be a leader in the scientific understanding of molecular processes that provide bio-based solutions for a sustainable future. The BioDiscovery Institute (BDI) gathers a collaborative and multidisciplinary network of scientists targeting development of sustainable biotechnologies that support an environmentally friendly, bio-based economy. We are committed to training the next generation of scientists prepared to solve the health, food, and energy security challenges of tomorrow.

Position Overview

This research position will use advanced molecular biology approaches to probe plant physiology and development in a non-model system.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a PhD in molecular biology and/or plant biology.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The successful candidate must have experience working with plants and be skilled in all aspects of molecular biology (eg. gene editing, cloning, DNA and RNA isolations and analyses). The successful candidate will demonstrate meticulous record keeping, as well as clear written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate should have familiarity with amplicon sequencing. Experience working with non-model plants is also appreciated.
