Repair Technician (Contract Role)
Job Description
*** PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION BASED OUT OF OUR CHELMSFORD, MA LOCATION ***
The Repair Technician is a mid-level position responsible for performing more complex diagnostic, repair, and maintenance tasks on various equipment and devices. This role requires a higher level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The Repair Technician also plays a key role in mentoring less experienced technicians and ensuring that all repairs meet safety and operational standards.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

Advanced Diagnostic and Repair: Diagnose and repair more complex issues with equipment and devices, using advanced tools and techniques. Ensure that repairs are completed efficiently and effectively.

Preventive Maintenance: Perform regular preventive maintenance and inspections on equipment to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.

Quality Control: Ensure that all repaired equipment meets quality and safety standards before being returned to service. Conduct final inspections and tests as needed.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all repairs, parts used, and services performed. Update maintenance logs and reports as required.

Customer Service: Provide clear communication and updates to customers regarding repair status, expected completion times, and any additional services needed. Address any customer concerns or issues promptly.

Training and Mentorship: Assist in training and mentoring Repair Technician I employees, sharing knowledge and expertise to help them develop their skills.

Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of repair parts, tools, and supplies. Order necessary items to ensure that the repair shop is well-stocked.

Collaboration: Work closely with other departments and team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repair tasks.

Safety Compliance: Follow and enforce all safety protocols and procedures. Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns to management.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as ability to learn company-based applications.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in repair or maintenance is preferred.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in a repair or technical role, with a proven track record of successful repairs and maintenance.

Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of repair tools, equipment, and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to mentor and train less experienced technicians.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Dexterity to handle small parts and tools with precision.
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed in a clean-room environment or repair facility setting.
- Exposure to various tools, equipment, and machinery; proper safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required.
