Western NC area mechanic

Job Description

This position involves the safe and efficient diagnosis and repair of mobile equipment including loaders, excavators, dozers, haul trucks, and skid steers. The position is based in Chattanooga with responsibility for all mobile equipment at two aggregate operations with 20% travel time to an operation in Western, NC. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and take full ownership of 24 pieces of mobile equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow safety regulations according to provided training
  • Ability to listen and apply training to all aspects of the position
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using proper tools
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
  • Test equipment after repair to ensure proper performance with manufatcurers specs
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance tasks on equipment
  • Read and understand operating and repair materials
  • Diagnose faults using engine diagnostic equipment
  • Examine parts for damage and excessive ware using gauages or micrometers
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, filters, taking oil samples, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies for product transit and delivery
  • Display professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and general public
  • Posses a strong drinve to fulfill commitments and tremendous enthusiasm
  • Requires occassional weekend or evening work hours as needed
  • Travel required inside the operational area of the company
  • Proper use of PPE equipment
  • Timeliness
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
  • Strict adherence to Harrison policies and procedures
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-wrokers or supervisors as needed
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
