Job Responsibilities:

The role involves developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with divisional quality policies and systems to support customer requirements to meet business plan objectives. Leading lean and continuous improvement activities related to quality systems is a key responsibility. Additionally, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and evaluating materials, components, and products to ensure they meet the company's quality standards and specifications. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining product quality, identifying defects, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in creating and developing quality systems and policies, including TS 16949, 5S, ISO 14001, and the employee handbook, and enforce their implementation.
• Understand and support control plans for prototype pre-launch and production phases, updating them, as necessary.
• Review customer drawings, manuals, and standards to ensure compliance and issue RFCs if needed.
• Respond to customer concerns, investigate complaints, and define corrective actions.
• Obtain quotes and arrange external testing in compliance with engineering standards.
• Prepare documentation for customer and internal sample submissions, ensuring all testing and reports are completed.
• Monitor temporary customer authorizations and ensure extensions are received before expiration.
• Confirm completion of documentation for customer PPAPs on product engineering changes.
• Develop Customer First Part Shipment Certification Plan and coordinate personnel training.
• Review and track Supplier PPAP and Annual Validations, maintaining tracking logs and files.
• Calculate PPM, update Supplier Monthly Overall Performance reports, and process supplier chargebacks.
• Assist in developing and implementing quality control procedures, inspection plans, and test methods.
• Participate in internal and external audits, providing support and documentation
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.

Education/Special Knowledge/Experience:

o An associate degree or technical certification in Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering.
o Minimum of three to five years quality assurance related experience in an automotive JIT, Tier 1 manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of both.
o Direct experience with a quality function and/or quality related responsibilities.
o Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing/Kaizen Events, Problem Solving Disciplines (5D, 7D, 8D)
o Strong understanding of quality control principles, inspection techniques, and testing methods.
o Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) and testing equipment.
o Working knowledge of quality methods, principals, standards, and regulations (e.g., TS 16949, 5S, ISO 14001) is a plus.
o Must have experience to effectively use quality tools and techniques to assist in determining compliance to specifications, trends, capabilities, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
o Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Process/Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA/DFMEA)
o Working knowledge of CAD, ability to interpret blueprints and interpret requirements.
