Description
The Department of Statistics at the University of Chicago, with the Center for the Physics of Evolving Systems, invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Full Professor. The Department of Statistics is the home to a world-class faculty who study statistical, computational and mathematical approaches to a wide range of problems. The Center for the Physics of Evolving Systems was formed to study the robustness of biological systems designed via evolution. We seek applicants who are recognized leaders in applying quantitative approaches to study the robustness of biological systems. Applicants are expected to have a demonstrated research excellence appropriate to the rank. Duties will include leading research programs that will produce significant contributions to a field, and teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Appointment will be made in the Department of Statistics.
Qualifications
Required: A PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics or related field. Candidates must have evidence of leadership in their field, successful independent research, and a demonstrated track record of mentoring PhD students and/or postdoctoral researchers.
