Description:
Working with a food manufacturer in the Bedford Heights, OH area seeking a skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the activities of our food packaging and processing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food safety regulations, production processes, and team management. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient operations, maintaining high-quality standards, and meeting production targets. This is a 3rd shift opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Production Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and execute daily and weekly production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement, quality assurance, and maintenance, to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor production progress and make adjustments as needed to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Team Management:
- Lead and supervise a team of production workers, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Motivate and empower the team to achieve production goals while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts promptly and effectively.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to strict food safety and quality standards, including GMPs, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to identify and rectify any issues.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality problems.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Monitor the condition of production equipment and schedule preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Safety Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular safety training and promote a culture of safety awareness.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in food science, engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food production or manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and GMPs.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including production software and Microsoft Office.
