Marketing and Communications, UA-MRKT, within The Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs (OVPDEMA).
Job Summary
Part-time Student Event Ambassadors focus on positively building the brand of OVPDEMA programming and other units by creating awareness on personal and organizational social media sites and representing the department at campus events.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Promotes upcoming OVPDEMA events with the goal of attracting the appropriate audience.
- Posts OVPDEMA events and programming on personal and departmental social media pages.
- Works with event organizers to determine appropriate event language and hashtags.
- Maintains professional standards of language and behavior in all social media posts.
- Works with writers, designers, and others to execute social media strategies. May include scheduling posts on Hootsuite.
- Takes approximately 10 photos at events and posts live coverage on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and others.
- Emails event photos to event organizers or stores on CITO, Google Drive, or other designated areas.
- Attends OVPDEMA events on behalf of the marketing and communications department.
- Distributes OVPDEMA program and event flyers, postcards, and posters around campus.
- Positively represents OVPDEMA by effectively communicating IU pride to others.
- Attends meetings team and project meetings.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
- Current minimum GPA of 3.0.
Preferred- Marketing, journalism, business or related major.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Experience with professional writing or managing multiple social media accounts.
- Involved in a OVPDEMA program (IU culture center or academic program) or other related programs.

- Demonstrates adaptive design eye and skill.
- Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to build and maintain rapport with faculty, staff, student, parents, representatives, and community.
Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Must be able to work flexible hours. All graphics are owned by OVPDEMA.
Work LocationBloomington, Indiana
Advertised Salary$12.13 per hour.
Work Hours8 - 10 hours per week, Sunday - Saturday, weekdays with day and evening flexible hours.
Duties and schedules are flexible as assigned by the supervisor based on programs, events, and needs of OVPDEMA.
Not to exceed a maximum of more than 29 hours per week across all positions of employment held with Indiana University.
