General Description:The Nursing Clinical/Lab Instructor has the authority and responsibility to provide clinical and lab instruction on campus or on off site medical facilities. in compliance with the general policies of the nursing program and Oklahoma City Community College. Responsibilities include attending an orientation and adjunct meetings each semester. This position includes teaching in clinical or lab settings and includes planning, teaching, and grading assignments. Planning and grading may occur outside the lab or clinical experience. The position will also assist with maintaining positive relationships at all levels within the Division of Health Professions.
This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing.

Minimum Education/Experience:Active, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
At least two years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting.
Evidence of current practice in area of teaching assignment (labs, clinicals).
Must be a self-starter with initiative and the ability to work independently as well as coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
Committed to helping students achieve their goals to be successful and attain a college education.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (example, Learning Management System).
Organization and attention to detail.
Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit.
Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing.
Ability to read and understand content in order to assist students when they are having difficulty interpreting concepts.
Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups.
Must be punctual.
Must be reliable.
Able to demonstrate collegial behaviors with individuals both in the nursing program, on facility sites, and at the college modeling civility expectations for students.
Able to prioritize with students teaching, mentoring, and coaching.
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom and lab/clinical area to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment and mobile devices to prepare instructional documents, answer email correspondence, and complete other activities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with classroom and lab equipment to instruct or assist students.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position's essential functions are performed both indoors and outdoors.

Required Training:Maintain Health Care Provider CPR training from the American Heart Association (only) every two years.
Nursing program orientation and college adjunct night.
Must complete any required trainings specific to a clinical site.
SafeCollege trainings.

Essential Functions
Commit and complete any lab or clinical assignment accepted.
Provide lab and clinical instruction,, mentoring, coaching, and feedback/grading to students.
Preserve and maintain equipment and facilitates.
Collaborate and plan with faculty for the development of scenarios and learning activities for use in the labs/clinicals emphasizing an interprofessional approach to health care delivery.
Assist with lab and/or clinical prep through preparation prior to scheduled teaching of labs/clinicals.
Supervise student practice in labs/clinicals as scheduled.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Program Director, Associate Nursing Program Director and Dean (if indicated).
