Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Birmingham is seeking qualified applicants for the position of mechanical maintenance technician. This role will support the maintenance team in, but not limited to, safely maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial and mobile equipment. Additionally, this role will support the implementation of new equipment and machinery upgrades. The successful candidate will simultaneously work closely with our production team. This is a developmental position which will be paid hourly plus production bonus. There will be an initial training period in which the awarded candidate will work straight day shift (Monday - Friday). Following the introductory period, this role will work a rotating shift schedule.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 2 years prior industrial mechanical maintenance experience
2. Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
4. Willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime
5. Passing score of 80% on a written technical exam administered onsite at Nucor Birmingham
