Position Overview:
The Network Architect will play a key role in managing and configuring the organization's network architecture, with a primary focus on deploying Palo Alto firewalls across all branches in Oklahoma and assisting with their rollout in additional locations. The role also requires collaboration with the security team to ensure seamless integration between security and network operations.
The ideal candidate will bring experience configuring networks, troubleshooting network issues, and working with Linux systems (though it is a minor part of the environment). Additionally, the candidate will act as a liaison between the network and security teams, helping to reduce dependency on the security team while managing Palo Alto firewall deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the deployment of Palo Alto firewalls across over 100 branch locations in Oklahoma, with additional support for conversion in Dallas-area branches.
- Manage and configure the network architecture, ensuring stability, security, and optimization.
- Work with Cisco routers, switches, and access points, gradually replacing older routers with Palo Alto routers.
- Troubleshoot network issues and resolve problems from the point of origin, independently without reliance on the security team.
- Collaborate closely with the security team, providing regular updates to the network manager and other internal stakeholders.
- Provide support and updates for IT projects and communicate progress and challenges to the team and branch locations.
Top Skills:
- Strong experience with network configuration and architecture.
- Expertise in Palo Alto firewalls, including deployment and management.
- Proficiency with Cisco routers, switches, and other networking equipment.
- Solid troubleshooting skills, particularly in identifying and resolving network issues.
- Familiarity with Panorama for managing Palo Alto firewalls is a plus.
- Ability to operate independently, bridge the gap between the security and network teams, and reduce reliance on external teams for network management.
