Scope of Position:

Utilize basic engineering functions to examine and improve the efficiency of manufacturing operations throughout various Mestek plants and locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

List what the person must do to perform the job to meet standards.

  • Work with general managers, shop supervisors, engineering personnel and factory employees to analyze and identify manufacturing problems and create solutions.
  • Determine root causes to failures in manufactured items using statistical methods and tools to recommend changes in design, tolerance or process.
  • Examine new products (or design changes to existing products) and determine manufacturing methods and costs to efficiently bring those items to production. This may include facility sourcing, factory layout, machine acquisition, routings and work cells.
  • Make recommendations concerning manufacturing machinery, tooling and controls then source and justify the purchase of that capital equipment.
  • Identify unsafe manufacturing processes and equipment and work with management to create a safe working environment.
  • Be willing to train others in the safe and proper use of machinery, equipment and the assembly of products on a manufacturing line.
  • Resource utilization: Communicate the capabilities of various Mestek companies and use those assets to aid manufacturing issues across all business units.
  • Assist in factory re-location, involvement with facility planning and maintenance, rigging and transportation, project management.
  • Travel to other facilities as needed.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as required or requested

Position Requirements:

The Manufacturing Engineer must possess the minimum knowledge listed below

  • College or University degree preferred
  • Experience with tools, dies and machining in sheet metal fabrication
  • Experience with PLCs and controls
  • Knowledge of robotics and machine learning a plus
  • Ability to use CAD and computer software; Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Ambitious, self-motivated individual with ability to function under pressure
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time
  • Strong ability to get along with others and function well in a team environment
  • Familiarity with LEAN and similar production systems and initiatives
