ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must be able to work in a team-oriented, safety conscience environment. Safety expectations include, but are not limited to, compliance with all company and customer safety policies, guidelines, and procedures. Participation in safety programs such as LOTO, RCA, PJHA and the Observation process is required.
2. Typically obtains work assignments from supervisor, contacts person requesting work and determines type of work required. Must be able to effectively work alone or in groups with others. This position may serve as a Working Lead, with operational responsibilities for other hourly employees as directed by supervisor.
3. Performs PM's, troubleshooting, repairs and installations to building and facilities equipment; to include, but not limited to, precision millwright/mechanical work, HVAC repairs and adjustments, pneumatics and piping repairs, plumbing repairs, carpentry work, electrical repairs to 600VAC and to 24VDC, cleans electrical fixtures and replaces lamps and ballasts, and performs industrial painting processes.
4. Read, interpret, and perform field markup of engineering drawings and technical sketches. Develop and make technical sketches.
5. Maintains records of assigned assets and for inventory of repair supplies and materials; prepares materials requisitions for approval of supervisor as replacement needs dictate.
6. Installs various items such as pictures, white boards, fixtures, etc.
7. Operates simple and complex industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, basket trucks, backhoes, bobcats, etc.
8. Must work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc., utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks.
9. Assists other Trades as directed by Supervisor.
10. Must have flexibility to work overtime and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays, and serve on an on-call basis, as may be dictated by the needs of the business.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
2. Substitute for HVAC Technician in case of emergency or absence.
3. Perform groundskeeping tasks.
4. Perform welding operations, to include torch, MIG, and TIG.
5. Utilize hand and power tools on a daily basis; includes, but not limited to, hand wrenches, pliers, hammers, hand grinders, saws, impact wrenches, hydraulic pullers, drill press, cutting torch and accessories, measuring tools, and rigging equipment.
6. Assist other vendors as directed; perform snow removal and related activities; repair ceiling and flooring systems and wall coverings.
7. Maintain assigned tools and equipment in clean, proper working condition; notify Supervisor in the event an assigned tool is found to be or becomes defective.
8. Ensure compliance with all company and customer policies, regulations, and procedures.
9. Effectively communicate in a positive, proactive manner with all team members, customer employees, and vendors; demonstrate a team and teamwork values.
10. Participate in the continuous improvement process.
11. Meet all physical requirements for this job (physical requirements are listed separately and provided prior to employment).
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: High School Diploma or approved GED
2. Experience: Minimum of 3 years demonstrated millwright/mechanical aptitude acquired through previous job experience. Includes a working knowledge of 4 or more of the following skills: use of hand and power tools in precision applications, plumbing/pipefitting, welding, industrial electrical work to 600VAC, carpentry work, blueprint reading and mathematics, industrial equipment operation.
3. A refrigerant recovery certification is desired, but not required.
4. Valid state motor vehicle driver's license.
