POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Engineer is a key member of the Zoetis Reference Laboratories team. The Maintenance Engineer uses their skills in reference lab instrumentation and equipment maintenance to maintain high quality equipment health at our Louisville, KY. They complete regularly scheduled maintenance activities for lab equipment. They work in partnership with the Operations crew and in collaboration with other functional areas to support daily operations by providing off-hours maintenance and support. They work to provide preventative maintenance to Zoetis Reference Laboratories' instrumentation & equipment where appropriate.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide daily, weekly, monthly equipment & instrumentation scheduled maintenance services for laboratory equipment.

Collaborate with cross-departmental teams (including IT resources, Procurement, Operations, QA) to facilitate integration of necessary systems and inventory establishment at new site

Provide input for project timelines, progress reports, lessons learned and other project health assessments.

Establish a positive culture of open communication, continuous improvement, and transparency with incoming employees by fostering close relationships throughout the project.

Effective communication within team and cross-functional teams. Attends and participates in team and project meetings.

Support new laboratory sites with on-site support during go-live.

Recommend and assist in refining & improving Operations Support functions.

Perform other related duties as required.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Provide the primary groups or key positions that this position will have interaction with as a regular part of the position responsibilities. Include any external interactions as appropriate.

• The Maintenance Engineer works closely with their internal team to manage work assignments for specific improvement activities or other specific strategic priority projects.

• The Maintenance Engineer will interface closely with daily reporting Operations.

RESOURCES MANAGED

With the advice and oversight of the Assc. Dir of Operations Support and Equipment & Instrumentation Service Manager, this role is responsible for operating within budget and helps to ensure the specific project functions within allocated funds.

This position reports to the Equipment & Instrumentation Service Manager. This position does not have any direct or indirect reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Preferred education: A.A.S Medical Laboratory Technician, A.A.S. Veterinary Technology, B.S. Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Scientist, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates carrying certification or eligibility for certification are preferred - MLT, MT, CLS, MLS (ASCP/AMT); RVT, CVT, LVT

Successful candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, and dependable

• 2+ years of working laboratory experience

• 1+ years of scientific equipment maintenance

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Maintenance Engineers will complete preventative maintenance activities on ZRL equipment & instrumentation.

Successful candidates will use their clinical laboratory skills and instrumentation skills to serve as a resource for training content development.

As assigned, Maintenance Engineers will perform validation testing studies as part of laboratory expansion and other strategic priority projects

Maintenance Engineers may also participate in and/or lead quality improvement or other strategic priority projects across the organization.

Strong team player willing to get involved at any level or capacity to ensure the project's success

Consistent professional behavior and excellent interpersonal communication skills, comfortable with public speaking in small groups

Good working knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, MS Office applications, and collaboration software (MS Teams, Smartsheet)

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Mobility is required, as well as the ability to alternately sit and stand for several hours at a time.

Infrequent travel may be required.
