Lecturer or Instructor (9-month basis)

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Veterinary Medicine (vetmed.illinois.edu) is seeking an individual with experience in clinical veterinary medicine and interest in professional student education to fill a Lecturer or Instructor position in the Department of Pathobiology (vetmed.illinois.edu/path). This position is available as a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track appointment.

Requirements: The successful candidate must have a DVM degree or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with graduate training in biomedical sciences, education and/or clinical experience, and familiarity with learning management systems.

Duties: The successful candidate will join an interactive team engaged in supporting and continually improving the second-year veterinary professional degree curriculum which largely focuses on topics in pathology, immunology, infectious diseases, and diagnostics. The Lecturer or Instructor will serve as course coordinator with responsibilities that include assisting faculty with preparation and administration of assessments including mid-term and final examinations, grading, scheduling, and updating and distributing syllabi, notes, laboratory manuals, and other educational materials. The successful candidate is expected to participate extensively in the delivery of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations to second and third year veterinary students. The individual will serve as a liaison with students relative to absences, grading, help with disability accommodations, and review sessions. The successful candidate may also teach and will assist in laboratories and seminars for VM 605 (General Pathology and Immunology), VM 607/VM 608 (Organ Systems Pathology and Infectious Diseases), and VM 606 (Clinical Practice II) as needed. Presenting case material and engaging students in problem solving sessions with clinical applications is a primary objective of these laboratories.

Appointment Information: This is a 100% full-time non-tenure track academic position, appointed on a 9-month service basis, paid over 12 months (9/12). Salary is competitive and is commensurate with experience and credentials.
