Job Description

We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineering Manager to oversee and manage mission-critical IT infrastructure services for the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). As part of PBGC's IT Infrastructure Operations Department (ITIOD), you will ensure the stability, security, and optimal performance of the systems that support over 33 million American workers' retirement plans. This role is essential in maintaining PBGC's hybrid IT environment, which includes physical and virtual data centers, cloud-based services, and 24/7 support operations. A strong focus on cost management, service modernization, and IT transformation is critical to success in this role.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

* Ensure the stability, reliability, and security of IT infrastructure, computing, and storage components.

* Manage database administration, server support, and enterprise service operations.

* Implement robust contingency plans and disaster recovery measures to ensure organizational resilience.

* Perform storage and backup management, including nightly and weekly backups adhering to PBGC's retention policies.

* Support middleware applications and manage web services.

* Oversee hardware and software testing, troubleshooting, and Physical Access Control and Surveillance System (PACSS) administration.

* Ensure up-to-date physical and virtual server operating systems through regular maintenance.

* Coordinate the deployment and update of IT software packages in controlled environments.

* Monitor application and database resource usage to ensure optimal system performance.

* Support PBGC's SAN, NAS devices, and Azure Government Cloud virtual data centers.

* Implement and maintain tools for system monitoring, availability, and performance tracking.

Education & Experience

* B.S. in a relevant IT discipline (desired)

* M.S. in a relevant IT discipline (desired)

* 15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management (desired)

Certifications

* ITIL v4 (Required)

* DevSecOps Foundations (Required to be obtained upon hire.)
