JOB DESCRIPTION

Intern - Sourcing:
The Procurement Intern will have the opportunity to work on a raw material category - metal components & steel covers; this project will look at network optimization (in-source vs. outsource), supplier volume & order management & reviewing best cost country sourcing options. Part of the analysis will be cost evaluation from multiple sources & potential freight improvement depending on optimizing different supply alternatives. Involvement will include Raw Material analyses, commodity index tracking, part specification, supplier evaluation & cost modeling. This position will report to the Sourcing Manager - Metal Components.

Key activities

  • Beginning of project, overall evaluation of supply network (internal, external, and oversea options) & potential opportunities to evaluate as part of summer intern program
  • Will provide weekly updates to Sourcing Manager / Team on progress being made
  • Evaluate each aspect of supply chain from raw material, conversion & freight to Mauser facilities
  • Understand & analyze part specification for each cover
  • Visit a Chicago Reconditioning plant to understand how steel covers are used
  • Evaluate part pricing, by facility, and determine best source to optimize savings
  • Review/validate data for accuracy and consistency and work with any other team necessary to improve accuracy and reliability of data
  • Provide final analysis & savings opportunity of the entire project
  • Final report out to Senior Leadership on EIP accomplishment

Basic Qualifications:
  • Working towards Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or General Business (will be in Senior Year)
  • Outstanding Microsoft Excel, Access, modeling and PowerPoint skills required
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently and take ownership with projects
  • Detail oriented, with high level of ethics and integrity
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
  • This is a hands-on position and a successful candidate will have to roll up their sleeves to succeed. He or she must be able to "deep dive" into the details of the business while staying focused on the big picture and be able to conceptualize both problems and solutions
  • The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, energetic and possess a natural curiosity to learn
