Locke Lord is seeking an associate in the Chicago office with 5+ years of Insurance Regulatory and Transactional experience. The associate will work with partners in multiple offices on a wide range of insurance regulatory matters across all lines of insurance. They will collaborate with insurance companies, brokers, agents, and tech companies from around the world. The ideal candidate would have specific insurance industry regulatory and transactional experience, including transactional drafting, reinsurance negotiation, and regulatory research skills. The position will also involve assisting on M&A, private equity transactions related to the insurance industry.

Essential Functions:

• Provide effective and reliable legal services to clients and supervising attorneys
  
• Research insurance laws, regulations and case law and provide detailed guidance and analysis to partners and clients
  
• Draft memoranda on discrete legal issues
  
• Draft transaction agreements and documents with efficiency and clarity
  
• Manage transaction closings and processes
  
• Provide thorough factual and legal research and analysis
  
• Competently and professionally communicate with clients and supervising attorneys
  
• Complete tasks efficiently
  

Education and Experience:

• Creativity and flexibility to handle numerous types and structures of transactions
  
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
  
• Strong organization and matter management skills
  
• Ability to work professionally and effectively with Clients, Partners, Associate and Support Staff

• Excellent academic credentials
  

Requirements:

Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in Illinois.
