Description
The Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago invites applications for a teaching position as an Instructional Professor (open rank) to support our undergraduate, masters, and doctoral educational programs. The selected candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Instructional Professor, Associate Instructional Professor, or Instructional Professor, depending on qualifications. The appointment will be for a term of up to five years, renewable with the possibility for promotion. This is a nine-month, career-track position with competitive salary and benefits.
The appointee will play a key role in designing and implementing a new laboratory course in energy storage and conversion, primarily serving masters and doctoral students in the PME. The appointee will be responsible for leading a Master of Engineering track in Energy & Sustainability, advising students in that track, and serving on the Master of Engineering admissions committee.
More generally, the appointee will be expected to work with PME faculty, leadership, and staff to support its undergraduate and graduate programs. This support would include activities such as: designing and teaching new courses, teaching existing courses, academic advising of students, advising of undergraduate student Capstone teams, curricular development, and the development and delivery of other workshops and programs to support the PME.
Expected start date is September 1, 2025.
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University.
