The Infrastructure Engineer II at IDR contributes to the development and standardization of enterprise technology solutions across the organization. This includes designing, testing, integrating, and supporting infrastructure systems, such as storage, networks, telecommunications, and human-interface devices, to support clinical and technical workflows. This resource will work remotely but will be required to travel around the San Fransisco area to various healthcare facilities. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Support and Solutions:

  • Specialize in technical solutions, systems, networks, or storage.
  • Package software for deployment via automated systems.
  • Design, configure, test, and implement server systems, operating systems, and applications across multiple platforms.
  • Install, document, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Allocate and maintain storage for operating systems, ensuring hardware and site configurations are optimized.
  • Manage device inventory and oversee new project deployments.
  • Handle escalations related to operational issues in production environments.
  • Collaborate with support teams to resolve technical challenges and improve solutions.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance client satisfaction and relationships.
  • Customer Service:

  • Conduct ongoing solution reviews and lifecycle management.
  • Stay current on new technologies through research and training.
  • Identify new opportunities by understanding the needs of customers, including users and support teams.
  • Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of production environment changes via change management systems.
  • Update application diagrams and add them to the support database.
  • Review and ensure accuracy in technical documents.
  • Infrastructure Architecture:

  • Interpret architecture requirements and assist with design, product evaluation, and technology integration.
  • Perform technical evaluations, including requirement analysis, RFP development, testing, and post-evaluation reporting.
  • Serve as a point of contact for Information Services (IS) for the deployment and adoption of enterprise engineering standards.
  • Engineering Standards:

  • Contribute to developing and implementing enterprise engineering standards.
  • Integrate new technologies into the existing infrastructure.
  • Ensure solutions meet business security requirements.

    Education and Experience:

    • Associate's degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience.
    • At least 1 year of recent, relevant experience.

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of storage performance, SAN-based backup, load balancing, storage virtualization, and SAN zoning.
    • Strong analytical skills to evaluate problems and situations and identify relevant factors.
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, IS team members, management, and executives.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills for engaging with diverse groups (executives, managers, and subject matter experts).
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage workflow and prioritize tasks.
    • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively within teams.
    • Adaptability to handle fluctuating workloads, competing demands, and interruptions.

    Department-Specific Skills and Knowledge:

    • Network Specialty: Knowledge of converged IP networks, WLAN, WAN/MAN, LAN, VPN/Firewall, routing protocols (e.g., EiGRP, OSPF, BGP), and various transmission technologies (e.g., DS1/T1, DS3/T3, Ethernet).
    • Systems Specialty: Familiarity with server operating systems (e.g., Windows, AIX, Linux), Citrix, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware), directory services (e.g., MS Active Directory), and network-based services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SMTP).
