ResponsibilitiesRecruitment: Prepare and participate in recruitment events on campus and off campus. Communicate with prospective students about admission and program requirements and answer questions from students. Update the faculty with the recruitment activities and the level of interest for each program.
Admissions: Serve as liaison with the Admissions Office. Communicate with applicants about admission process and requirements. Maintain and evaluate admission statistics for the programs, including GRE score tracking, GPA tracking, and related information. Update the faculty with application statistics. Oversee the admission file processing on SLATE and inform the faculty when they are ready for review. Coordinate readmission process by informing the readmission requirements to the students and faculty. Maintain and update admission websites. Convert admissions files into permanent student files and maintain updated and accurate inventories of these files.
Advising: Advise and counsel graduate students regarding all academic aspects of the program including: monitoring student progress, policies and procedures related to coursework, deadlines, time lines, signatures, programs of study, certifications, and graduation. Assist students with registering for courses based on their POS. Manage all GA, scholarship, and fellowship applications and communicate the status and decision with students.
Program Coordination: Coordinate the paperwork required by OASIS for each program. Maintain and update the program databases including admission, course completion status and grades, graduation requirements, and academic status. Assist with student and alumni surveys to inform the program improvement. Maintain and update the program websites and oversee the program listserv. Attend the program meetings and take minutes when needed. Establish and maintain close liaison with Graduate Studies, Admissions, the Center for Global Engagement, and COE OASIS to be informed of new policies and requirements. Advise faculty on the university and COE-level academic policies and procedures for graduate students and work with the program directors and chair to ensure implementations. Make recommendations on new/updating policies for the programs and department as needed. Coordinate and assist in preparation of scholarships and annual evaluations of departmental graduate assistants. Create and update course schedules for all ELPS programs. Assist with Certificate programs, including but not limited to gathering and disseminating information to faculty and students. Provide assistance with any other areas as needed and requested by program faculty, department chair or office manager.
QualificationsA Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
