Job Description
The Executive Director is responsible for the design, implementation and marketing of all fund development for the Foundation, consistent with the Foundation's mission and goals. This responsibility is performed in partnership with the Board of Directors and key volunteer leaders coordinating special programs and events.

The position has supervisory responsibility for Foundation staff.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position, the person must have a Bachelor's degree, with most recent primary experience in fund raising. Additional marketing and/or public relations may consist of the five years' experience required. Demonstrated skills and experience working closely with boards of directors, volunteer committees and community leadership. Proven experience in solicitation of gifts from all sources (individuals, business and foundations), knowledge of planned giving, as well as special events and project management.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to implement all development programs as approved by the Board of Directors and/or committees, including all special events, annual and major gift programs.
  • Ability to coordinate databases, recordkeeping of all gifts, member participation and identification of donor prospects. Ability to compile various Foundation reports, including those for fundraising and financial matters.
  • Ability to develop key contacts within the community and interact cooperatively with Civista Health's staff and constituencies.
  • Ability to manage all Foundation public and media relations through the use of promotional materials, news releases, photos and other means of communication for all Foundation activities. This requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and implement effective strategies to enhance the financial performance of the department and the organization.
  • Ability to work under stress and coordinate multiple projects while maintaining a leadership stature and a professional interpersonal organizational focus.
  • Must be proficient in computer software in the Windows format, financial software and especially a Windows-based fund-raising format software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The ability to communicate well, verbally and in written form, with board members, donors, patients, physicians, health system officials, other health system personnel, community leaders and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Extensive experience in financial planning for nonprofits, as well as budgeting and financial analysis. Use of financial software for these is essential.

REASONING ABILITY:

Capable of effective and efficient planning and coordination of all staff, committee and board activities through the use of the ability to analyze complex situations so he (she) can manage crises in stressful situations. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and a sense of the appropriate, tact, diplomacy and discretion in a variety of complex conditions, keeping in mind the creditability and public image of the Foundation so necessary to maintaining a positive fund raising program. This is crucial to the Executive Director's effectiveness because so much of fund raising is based upon relationships with varied constituent individuals and groups, and their evaluation of the Foundation's programs and activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Will work in a clean, well-lighted environment. Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods. Requires flexibility in terms of hours with occasional evening, weekend and off-hour duties. Limited potential for minimal exposure to blood and/or body substances and hazardous materials requiring the observance of Standard Precautions and safe handling practices.
