Position Summary: The EMS Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating programs with the regional EMS providers to improve pre-hospital care and improve the competitive position of the Enterprise. The EMS Coordinator position acts as a liaison between the hospital, regional EMS staff, and the general public. The coordinator will work with the pre-hospital providers to coordinate and provide continuing education for all levels of EMS staff. The coordinator will also provide continuing education to hospital staff and physicians as it relates to pre-hospital protocol and communication etiquette. The position also serves to provide follow up to staff, physicians and EMS as to the outcomes of care and works to improve pre-hospital care and communication. The coordinator is the go to person for problem resolution in regards to EMS and Hospital related issues, works to maintain and market Georgia Health Sciences full range of services throughout the community, develops and maintains a strong relationship with regional/state EMS agencies, stays abreast of the latest developments in the area of EMS training, protocols, and equipment. The coordinator will work closely with the hospital Trauma Coordinator, Chest Pain Coordinator, Stroke Coordinator, the ED Centers for Operational Medicine, EMS Medical Director and the Emergency Communications Center. They will promote our Enterprise throughout the region/state and ensure we have a strong referral relationship with EMS throughout the area.
Position Requirements: 5 years minimum Paramedic experience required. Certified to instruct BLS, ACLS, PALS. Current Georgia EMT-P license and Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic (NREMT-P) license. BLS (AHA) certification
Preferred Requirements: PHTLS and ASLS preferred. Experience with teaching preferred. EMS instructor status.
