Position Specific Summary: To promote the linkage between the academic and service activities of the University of Iowa College of Public Health with public health practitioners at the local, state and federal levels. Under the direction of the Core Director, the position designs, plans, promotes and conductions education, service, assessment, and education programs.

Enhance and Support Educational Experiences and Increase Retention. Foster a Sense of Community and Engagement for Students/Participants:

Participate in identification and assessment of workforce development opportunities and resources.

Development and deliver courses for public health professionals to connect them to emerging topics, issues and colleagues.

Lead the preparation of training and funding related resource materials.

Assist Core Director in working with public health agencies to develop workforce needs assessments.

Oversee the evaluation of training and education program effectiveness and impact.

Provide on-going support for technical assistance requested by public health agencies and other entities in Region 7.

Oversee the implementation of training programs.

Develop and/or design specific programs and services, including curriculum development, delivery and assessment.

Provide reports and recommendations to assist in assessing alignment with IPHPRP strategic goals.

Propose, plan and develop new initiatives.

Align outcomes with stakeholder expectations and needs (e.g. CE courses); attend meeting(s) with other CE Directors.

Advise the Core Director on education and outreach activities, program goals and internal/external trends.

Establish and Maintain Relationships with Partners to Provide Educational Support Services. Partners Include on-campus Units and External Agencies (Local, State, National and International):

Provide leadership in the design and implementation for practice and workforce development initiatives.

Develop and maintain networks of professional colleagues and external partners.

In collaboration with the Core Director, ensure program activities follow University of Iowa policies, procedures, practices, and programs follow federal, state, and local legal/regulatory standards.

Represent the workforce development and practice component of the Midwestern Public Health Training Center on various internal or external committees, agencies, and associations as requested by the Core Director.

Participate in public outreach activities through the College and University.

Present at seminars, professional meetings, and conferences and to key stakeholders.

Articulate initiatives and services to address strategic goals.

Align outcomes with stakeholder expectations and needs including efforts to provide regular communications to stakeholders.

Aid faculty in efforts to maintain supportive contacts with the Midwestern Public Health Training Center practitioners receiving and responding to practitioners' direct requests for information and assistance.

Administrative (HR, Budget), Supervision and Training:

Implement the operational activities of the public health practice and workforce development initiatives - including, project management, timeline development, supervision and organization, meeting scheduling and coordination of external reviews to ensure team meets deadlines.

Supervise staff within the Midwestern Public Health Training Center, and the Core.

In conjunction with the Core Director and the Executive Director of the IPHPRP, responsible for financial oversight of the programs (e.g. monitor revenue and expenses for each individual educational activity; monitor sponsored budgets.)

In conjunction with the Core Director and the Executive Director of the IPHPRP develop budgets; review and recommend budget allocations, review and approve operational expenditures.

Responsible for aiding the Core Director in writing grant applications to secure funding.

Prepare and maintain appropriate periodic and special program operations reports.

Assist in the evaluation of training and education program effectiveness and impact.

Obtain and maintain continuing education credits for multiple disciplines for training and education activities.

Assist in the enrollment and processing of program participants.

Maintain and analyze data on program participants.

Perform administrative supervision functions including interviewing, selection, training, performance evaluation, salary determination, promotion and disciplinary action; schedule and assign work of support staff. Assure staff is compliant with UI policies and procedures.

Collect/track activities performed by Core staff and faculty.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in a field related to public health or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous experience (1-3 yrs) in program management.

Previous experience (1-3 yrs) evaluating program effectiveness and efficiency.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; demonstrated effectiveness in building teams and collaborations; ability to adapt as needed.

Ability to travel in Iowa and out-of-state with overnight stays.

Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard.

Highly Desirable Qualification:

Experience developing and evaluating workforce development assessment strategies.

Experience working with practice and academic partners in other states or HHS Regions.

Desirable Qualifications:

Evidence of success in working with multiple groups of people at all levels (e.g. students/participants, government, faculty, director, etc.)

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment.
