This position is funded by non-university funds. The continuation of this position is contingent upon the availability of funding and contract renewal.
Under the general directions of the Project Manager, the Digital Media Manager will create, edit, and distribute skilled digital media (text, graphics, audio, and video) and visual content for Web, print, and social media use; create content for promotional and instructional purposes; and assist in the preparation of materials and communications for Charlotte's Inclusive Tech-Innovation Pilot Project (CITIP) such as digital images, Web content, and various promotional materials. Additionally, will understand the CITIP target audiences, creating relevant and compelling messaging for those audiences, and delivering that message through a variety of communications channel with the goals of increasing awareness of digital literacy and digital equity.
The Digital Media Manager is responsible for support to faculty and staff to identify press opportunities, develop content for broadcast, print, and online distribution channels. The Digital Media Manager will negotiate with media channels to close competitive deals. They will ensure that key messages align with vital business strategies that align with the CITIP.
Under the direction of the CITIP Project Manager will perform the more complex and difficult digital media duties including preparing promotional and digital material for advertising; operate computers, digital cameras, Web and graphic software and other equipment and programs related to digital and print media. Establish compelling content and maintain engagement and technology for the overall promotional and communication needs of the college.
BA/BS required with emphasis in communications, digital media and/or design, or a discipline related to digital media, graphic design, photojournalism, visual arts, or related field. Two years' work experience in digital media technology. Demonstrated experience in social media, writing, public relations and/or marketing. Advanced knowledge of digital media, image manipulation, desktop publishing and graphic design software.
Must be proficient in computer software including the Microsoft Suite, (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) audiovisual software. Multimedia experience, or if equivalent in education and experience. Proficiency in web conferencing, audiovisual and computer equipment, and technologies preferably in a networked environment. Strong service orientation is essential; strong organizational and communication skills are important to deal with high-level user contact.
Superior organizing and coordination skills, in addition to technical knowledge of hardware/software used in learning environments, knowledge of web collaboration tools, expertise in PCs, Macs and printers with the ability to troubleshoot problems accurately.
Supports the Project Manager, faculty, staff, and other administrators for cultivating a culture of excellence in research and scholarship at JCSU, promotes interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary activities, and coordinates site visits, meetings, teleconferences, and other activities to stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration and proposal submission. Identifies potential collaborations within the University to capitalize and expand on existing strengths.
