Job Summary

The Dean of Students & student Title IX Coordinator has the responsibility for student development, learning outcomes, and assessment through a variety of student affairs programs and services. The Dean serves as one of the campus leaders responsible for campus-wide equity and inclusion efforts and also serves as the student Title IX Coordinator. This position is part of the Student Affairs leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversees various areas in student affairs ensuring that high quality services and programs are provided to students and the campus community.
  • Provides leadership and direction for various and distinct functional areas in Student Affairs and supervises both professional and student staff.
  • Provides oversight and administration of the student conduct process, and discrimination and bias reports regarding students.
  • Assists equity and inclusion initiatives and programming across campus.
  • Serves as the student conduct officer for campus as well as the student Title IX coordinator with oversight of all cases involving students.
  • Serves as campus resource to faculty/staff working with students with significant issues involving mental health, personal health challenges and victimization.
  • Serves as a primary member of the campus threat assessment/behavioral consultation team and CARE Team and assists with case management of student information.
  • Investigates and serves as an initial hearing stage for student disciplinary issues including most forms of personal misconduct and some issues of academic misconduct.
  • Serves on and/or chairs various campus and university committees to represent student affairs.
  • Serves as primary sexual assault prevention educator for students to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for oversight, assessment, investigation, and resolution of all reports of student sexual harassment, sexual violence, stalking and intimate partner violence involving students.
  • Co-chairs the campus equity and inclusion with the Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement.
  • Assists with coordinator of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategic goals and reporting.
  • Provides oversight and partnership to equity and inclusion initiatives across campus.
General Responsibilities
  • Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define student support methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority student support projects/initiatives.
  • Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase student support initiatives.
  • Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
  • Manages high level assignments and allocation of student support resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams; may coordinate large-scale student support projects with a wide audiences in support of academic initiatives.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
  • Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry student support standards, technologies, policies, and procedures; responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs.
  • Works collaboratively with other student support leaders across departments in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.
  • Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to student support.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, law, or related field
Preferred
  • Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 4 years in student support, higher education student affairs, or related field
  • 1 year of management experience in relevant field
Preferred
  • 5 years in student programs, higher education student affairs, or related field
  • 3 years of management experience in relevant field
  • 7 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs
  • Trained in Title IX policy and procedure
  • Experience in adjudicating Title IX and student conduct cases

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$80,000 - $90,000 per year
