SUMMARY
The Database Administrator III, or DBA, is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security measures of supported databases. Support will include monitoring and updating malware protection software to combat potential security breaches, creating account data for authorized individuals to access databases and organizing databases so individuals can find important documents in an efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Preference given to DoD or Federal Government industry experience.
Must be able to pass a customer background check for access to facilities, equipment and property.
Knowledge of software programming, development, review, audit, testing, configuration management requirements and changes.
Ability to use a scripting language (such as Python) to automate database administration tasks.
Experience in Microsoft Azure cloud database technologies.
Certification at the Information Assurance Technical (IAT) II level. These include CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, SSCP.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Builds, manages and monitors databases and database applications.
Identifies and implements database requirements for new or existing applications by working collaboratively with other teams.
Modifies and implements changes to database systems and information.
Ensures database systems are storing and retrieving data as intended.
Monitors database operation and provide support to ensure database applications and information are accessible.
Plans and executes database upgrades and maintenance activities to ensure data security compliance within database systems.
Creates and maintains database backup and recovery procedures.
Works with developers to troubleshoot data-related issues.
Executes disaster recovery plans and procedures to ensure database availability during system outages or dysfunction
Optimizes database performance and efficiency by evaluating and recommending new database technologies.
Supports users and developers by resolving data-related technical issues and troubleshooting queries by guiding them with best practices.
Executes regular database maintenance tasks, including database defragmentation, backups, and database replication.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or related field from an accredited educational institution and a minimum of 6 years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Preference given to DoD or Federal Government industry experience.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
