Compensation: The starting annual base salary range for this position is $58,500-$72,000.

Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Custodial Supervisor performs supervisory work involving the assignment and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness of buildings, offices, classrooms, fitness centers, laboratories, furnishings and equipment as well as building entrances. The Custodial Supervisor is also responsible for training employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electrically-powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals.
The regularly scheduled work hours are Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective supervision of custodial staff by structuring assignments and schedules to meet department objectives, clearly articulating expectations, educating staff on policies and procedures of the college and department, and holding staff accountable for the execution of their work.
- Develop an effective team of custodial staff by instructing all employees in the proper methods and use of materials and equipment for safe and efficient work performance, evaluating individual performances to meet established standards.
- Ensure that the quality of custodial services meets established procedures by inspecting the work of custodial staff and providing corrective instructions to be taken to meet those guidelines.
- Ensure that custodial staff has the equipment and supplies necessary to perform custodial services by issuing supplies, conducting inventory, proactively tracking usage and completing request forms for replacement items.
- Provide continuity of custodial services under emergency conditions or unique circumstances by performing custodial duties directly related to the emergency conditions or as the situation dictates.
- Support college operations by working some weekends related to special events and college programs.
QualificationsRequired
- A minimum of three years of experience in custodial services, two of which must have been supervisory or a minimum six years of experience in custodial service without supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment and supplies.
- Will require climbing ladders or stairs, bending, reaching on top of fixtures and furniture as well as moving furniture, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry custodial supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
- Required to have a full range of motion for manual, electrically powered cleaning equipment and machine training; including snow shovel training.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Custodial Supervisors are designated as essential employees and must report to work to support operational needs.
- Respond to custodial emergency situations around the clock, scheduled on call weekends.
- Maintain a valid NYS drivers’ license.
Preferred
- Four years of custodial supervisory experience.
- Experience supervising in a unionized environment.
