The Creative Studio Manager ("CSM") leads the marketing studio's creative team and is responsible for shaping the creative direction of campaigns, ensuring brand consistency, and delivering compelling content across multiple platforms. The CSM leads a team of art directors, editorial directors, graphic designers, copywriters/editors, videographers, multimedia designers and freelance talent. The CSM works with marketing managers, partners and clients to translate ideas into captivating and strategically sound campaigns. The CSM demonstrates a balance of leadership, creativity, and marketing expertise that inspires the team and drives business results. The CSM reviews and approves creative deliverables to maintain consistency, quality and file accuracy and ensures work meets brand, marketing, legal and quality guidelines. Stays informed of industry trends and emerging technologies to advance the capabilities and talent of the studio. Responsible for optimizing operations, workflows and creative processes. Utilizes technology and project management software and tools to streamline operations, improve collaboration and to continuously evaluate and improve processes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Prepares detailed reports on team capacity, utilization, on-time delivery, quality metrics and budget.

Compensation

$112,800 - $134,000 annually

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.

What you'll do
  • Creative Strategy, Vision & Oversight: Develop and define the overall creative direction for campaigns, aligning with brand identity and business objectives. Collaborate with marketing strategists to ensure creative concepts support marketing goals and resonate with the target audience. Provide direction and guidance to the team that aligns with established creative strategy/concepts. Ensure all work aligns with the company's brand and marketing objectives.
  • Team Leadership & Management: Oversee and inspire creative teams, including designers, copywriters, videographers, and art/editorial directors. Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to ensure high-quality creative output. Manage workloads, set priorities, and ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Brand Consistency & Quality Control: Ensure that all creative outputs maintain brand integrity, tone, and visual consistency across platforms. Conduct quality checks and reviews of all deliverables to ensure they meet studio and client standards. Drive innovation while staying aligned with the client's branding guidelines and campaign vision. Review and approve deliverables to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Client Collaboration & Relationship Management: Work closely with clients to understand their needs, brand guidelines, and campaign objectives. Present creative concepts and proposals to clients, incorporating feedback to refine and improve campaigns. Build strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering trust and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of creative projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines. Develop and manage project timelines, allocate resources, and monitor progress. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and clients to gather project requirements and provide updates on project status. Oversee the execution of creative projects from concept to delivery, ensuring they stay on-brand and meet objectives. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Market Trends & Industry Insights: Stay current with emerging design trends, consumer behavior, and digital marketing best practices. Introduce new tools, techniques, or design trends that can enhance the studio's creative offerings. Ensure campaigns are culturally relevant and adapt to changing market landscapes.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the studio's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources (people, time and money). Track project expenses and provide regular financial reports to leaders. Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with external vendors and freelancers. Make recommendations on types of work to in/outsource based upon talent, time and cost. Manage budgets for creative projects, ensuring campaigns are completed within financial constraints. Allocate resources effectively, balancing the team's workload and optimizing productivity.
  • Workflow Optimization: Implement and maintain efficient workflow processes to optimize productivity and minimize bottlenecks. Utilize project management software and tools to streamline operations and improve collaboration. Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Performance Measurement & Optimization: Collaborate with analytics teams to evaluate the performance of creative campaigns. Use insights and metrics to optimize future campaigns, ensuring continual improvement. These responsibilities require a balance of creativity, strategic thinking, and leadership to deliver impactful campaigns that meet client goals while inspiring creative teams.
  • Compliance Oversight: Responsible for ensuring all components follow and adhere to strict review, approval and documentation processes for CMS, KID, URAC and BCBSKS brand guidelines.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Branding & Marketing Concepts: Deep understanding of brand identity, positioning, and storytelling. Knowledge of integrated marketing strategies (digital, print, social media, etc.).
  • Creative Vision & Innovation: Ability to generate fresh ideas and inspire innovative campaigns. Strong sense of design, typography, color theory, and aesthetics. Capacity to anticipate industry shifts and guide the team toward future trends and opportunities.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Excellent leadership skills to inspire and guide creative teams. Ability to mentor and develop talent, fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Creative Processes & Production: Familiarity with the creative workflow, from ideation to execution. Knowledge of design tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma). Understanding of video production, photography, and content creation processes. Ability to ensure consistency, quality, and precision in all creative outputs.
  • Project Management & Budgeting: Knowledge of project management frameworks and tools (e.g., Asana, Trello). Understanding how to manage budgets and allocate resources efficiently. Proficiency in managing multiple projects with tight deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet client expectations.
  • Communication & Presentation: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly. Expertise in presenting creative concepts to clients and stakeholders. Ability to adapt creative concepts to changing trends, technologies, and client feedback.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Ability to think strategically and align creative ideas with business goals. Skill in troubleshooting and resolving challenges during project execution.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building: Ability to build strong relationships with clients, internal teams, and external partners. Ability to manage interpersonal relationships and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Consumer Psychology & Market Trends: Insights into consumer behavior and how it shapes creative strategy. Awareness of emerging design and technology trends in the industry.

What you need
  • BA or BFA in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Computer Graphics, Multimedia or related degree
  • 7-10+ years of design experience in agency or marketing department.
  • A minimum of 3 years leading creative, marketing, or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Portfolio of work
