Position Summary
The Controls Engineer is responsible for overseeing plant-wide instrumentation and control systems, including programming, documentation, training, and system integration for manufacturing processes and equipment. This role involves managing projects and providing facility support, while working closely with manufacturing staff and management.
Key Responsibilities
•Implement and support software initiatives and corporate projects within the plant.
•Design and develop control and instrumentation systems.
•Create and manage electrical systems to support process and utility operations.
•Select, procure, and install instrumentation and control systems.
•Provide technical support to troubleshoot operational issues.
•Train staff on new and upgraded systems.
•Customize and program software solutions as needed.
•Coordinate with vendors, construction teams, and project members.
•Conduct technical design reviews with project team members to ensure quality.
•Participate in contract management.
•Handle projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
•Prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
•Perform additional related duties as required.
Safety and Compliance
•Complete safety documentation and ensure adherence to safety standards.
•Report safety deviations to the Supervisor.
•Participate in mandatory safety training and follow all safety policies.
•Report safety issues, near misses, and injuries.
Quality Assurance and Food Safety
•Complete quality and food safety documentation and ensure compliance with standards.
•Report quality deviations to the Supervisor.
•Participate in mandatory food safety and quality training.
•Maintain the integrity of the quality system by following policies and procedures.
•Address and resolve food safety and quality system issues.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's or Technical degree in an Engineering-related field preferred.
•Proficiency in programming PLCs and GUI systems.
•Strong skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows-based programs.
•Knowledge of process control systems for utilities such as steam, water, and air.
•Experience configuring industrial machine controls, including AC/DC drives.
•Ability to navigate stairs, ladders, and confined spaces in various conditions.
•Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
•Expertise in Controllogix processors, Rslogix 5000 software, AOI block programming, object-oriented programming, Factory Talk SE, VBA scripting, Wonderware GUI, Wonderware servers, Wonderware Historian, Dream Reports programming, and electrical control and instrumentation systems.
