Job Responsibilities:

Objectives

Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthful workplace and keeping tooling maintained to produce quality products. Also responsible for continuous improvement of tooling, housekeeping, making informed decisions, and having tooling ready for production runs.

Job Responsibility

  • Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Follows and supports and Magna's operating principles.
  • Tig and Mig weld and hand working parts of die (heat treat of materials)
  • Assist in determining spare parts requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Recommend modifications to existing tooling
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes
  • Ensure quality product and know quality procedures
  • Program CNC Machines using offline G-Code software
  • Perform duties according to blueprints, CAD data, sketches and verbal instructions
  • Understand program format and work from operational data to set up and operate a CNC machine tool
  • Ability to cycle through CNC programs to check locations, tool clearances, fixture pick up locations and understand speeds and feeds tools are programmed to be appropriate for the working conditions
  • Make changes to programs to adjust for conditions
  • Read and understand complex blue prints
  • Use a variety of measuring instruments to inspect part at machine and record data on inspection document
  • Understand the required time needed to complete the job and be within specified routing time to ensure production efficiency
  • Operate manual machine
  • Be able to lift 50lbs
  • Ability to program and run at least two machines simultaneously
  • Experience with Mastercam
  • Proficient G Programming
  • Produce Drawing from Scanned or Digitized Data
  • Proficient setting up and running, Bridgeport Mills, Manual Lathes, Pedestal and Surface Grinders
  • Perform additional duties to meet deadlines
  • Ability to lead and supervise employees
  • Ability to make Continues Improvement Suggestion for CNC Machining and Scanning of Details
  • CAD
  • FARO Arm Scanning
  • Produce CAD Drawing

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education preferred, or a minimum of 10 years' experience
  • Previous set-up and programming experience a plus
  • Experience in Tig and Mig welding preferred
  • Ten (10) years minimum experience doing toolmaking/machining in a shop or production environment.
  • Experience building dies, tooling, precision machine parts, and doing custom machining.
  • High Scholl Graduate, GED
  • Vocational or Trade School
  • Journeyman's card in Toolmaking or Tool & Die discipline
  • Completion of an Apprenticeship Program
  • Experience programming VMC's with Mastercam.
  • Must be able to attend CAD and FARO Arm Classes out of town

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, CAD/Blueprint reading and shop match preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Operate standard office equipment preferred
  • General knowledge of troubleshooting, materials and methods, machines and tools, practical application of Engineering Science preferred
  • Basic knowledge in automation
  • Ability to program, set-up and operate CNC vertical machining center
  • Detail drawings and use shop math (Trigonometry).
  • Ability to select and properly use perishable tooling on mills and lathes.
  • Must have own tools.
  • 10 years minimum experience doing toolmaking/machining in a shop or production environment
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to work on dies
  • Must have a strong understanding of Tool and Die
