About the Job
In this role, the Lab Support Service Tech (Core) will support the delivery of patient care through the receipt, processing, and routing of specimens. Provides customer friendly service to any person requesting supplies or information by phone, computer or in person.
What you will do
- Performs assigned duties from the pre-analytical to post-analytical phases of testing according to standard operating procedures. Receives and evaluates all specimens to ensure positive identification and appropriateness of sample. Works with fellow team members to properly triage and efficiently move samples through all phases of testing.
- Communicates effectively and respectfully with other members of the health care team. Interacts positively with customers when inappropriate specimens have been submitted for timely resolution.
- Faxes information to physician offices and clinics as requested, and according to departmental policy.
- Maintains equipment, ensures areas are properly stocked with supplies, verifies inventory counts, and ensures workspace cleanliness.
- Compiles and maintains paper and electronic records to meet regulatory guidelines and for departmental QA requirements.
Here is what you will needRequired:
- High School Diploma
- Less than one year of previous job-related experience
Preferred:
- Associate's Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
- 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
